RE: Semi's as tow Vehicles

I am one that tows with a semi and when we bought ours (with the Smart car) we got the package for around. $33,000, two years ago we converted a friend's truck he bought, truck $18,000 (2005 Volvo) then they got a 2015 Smart for around $8,000. Deals can be found but take time Did you single yours, or is it still a tandem? I've considered going this route, I have a few thousand miles in a mid 2000s Freightliner Columbia pulling a 53', and even the "Freightshaker" was very easy to drive and comfortable on the highway. I can imagine a quality truck like a KW with full air ride would be even more so, pulling a relatively light RV. Our is still original with 2 rear axles, this way if I ever change my mind and switch from the Smart to a vehicle that would needed loaded front to rear it can still handle the weight.

RE: Semi's as tow Vehicles

We have a dealer for them here in Canada. https://www.rvhaulers.ca/inventory/ I was lucky enough to attend a rally for the HDT vehicles in Tn. one year and Gregg was there as well, very nice and helpful person who wants to make sure anyone who is looking at doing this totally understands all the options an converting a truck.

RE: Return to AngelFireNM...

We love the whole area and are happy to hear about the upgrade on that pass, first time we took the rv west we went from Angle Fire to Taos but when I reached the top I pulled over to let the traffic behind by as to not hold them up anymore and you know what......almost everyone that passed us beeped and waved thank-you.

RE: Founded in 1928, RV company in Liquidation

RE: Hate being followed around

schlep1967, well it sounds like you got lucky and actually found a salesman that knows their business, I think I know which Camping World you're talking about, we almost walked out of there once as they could not find anyone that could work the checkout area to pay for a purchase.

RE: Hate being followed around

I'm thinking about getting a new travel trailer soon. I'm a bit worried about the high-pressure sales tactics at Camping World if I just want to browse. Wondering if I'd have a more relaxed experience at an independent dealer insteaed. TES!!!!!;)

RE: Hate being followed around

In this day and age I would shop online to see what the lot had and then if something that might fit your needs then go to the lot to see it in person. I myself before so much info online have just turned around and left when told I am sorry sir a salesperson must accompany you on the lot. Good luck

RE: Rt. 95 north

To avoid the northern Va backups and DC area you could get off at exit 104 (one above Kings Dominion) then take that road directly to 301 and follow it over the Nice bridge and the Bay Bridge until you reach Route 1 in De which ends at 95, take it north thru Wilmington and get off on Route 202 to Rt 1 south then follow to the exit for the KOA. There are traffic lights on 301 to contend with but I prefer that to the traffic on 95, also tolls on the Bay bridge and 301 by-pass in De. Good luck and safe travels.

RE: Central Pa to Delaware shore

I would look at 322 to 83, 695, 97, 50. 322 to 83 At exit 32, Newberrytown there is a very easy off an on for fuel at Rutters. This is also a good choice but if you choose this route I would sign up for the alerts for the Bay Bridge, depending on when you go you might run into some very heavy traffic at the bridge. We signed up mostly for the wind advisories but almost every weekend we get the notices on major backups.

RE: Central Pa to Delaware shore

You can take 41 south at the Gap all the way to De then follow the signs for 95, take 95 south to Route 1 in De then stay on 1, there are tolls that way. Truck stop on 30 near Lancaster and also one on 41 below Gap, both on the right side heading south.
